When our clients moved into their McDowell Mountain home, they immediately planned a McDowell Mountain Kitchen Remodel that would match their taste and daily needs. They wanted a bright gathering space with modern amenities, generous storage, and a seamless indoor-outdoor feel.
New Appliances and Bar Setup
We started by installing a full suite of Frigidaire Professional appliances. The oversized refrigerator and freezer keep food handy for large gatherings, while a built-in beverage center serves guests without crowding the main prep zone. Open shelving above the bar displays crystal glassware and ties into the kitchen’s clean lines.
Island Built for Cooking and Conversation
A large center island anchors the room. Deep drawers hold pots, pans, and small appliances, so counters stay clear during meal prep. On the seating side, cabinet doors hide board games and extra dishes. The island’s quartz top provides space for rolling dough, plating appetizers, or helping kids with homework.
Bringing the Outdoors In
Above the sink, we added a bi-fold window that swings open to the patio. This feature passes food to the grill area and lets fresh air cool the kitchen during mild desert evenings. It also frames mountain views, turning dish duty into a pleasant pause.
Subway Tile With a Twist
For the backsplash, ModaScapes Interior Design chose classic 3 × 6 subway tile. Instead of stacking tiles in the usual running bond, they laid them in a diagonal herringbone pattern. The angled lines catch light and lend a touch of sophistication without overwhelming the space.
